Design and Technology
DT consists of giving the children opportunities to work with a variety of materials and equipment to produce a finished result. DT units are made up of 4 important stages;
• Looking at present designs and how things work
• Designing a new product
• Making the product
• Evaluating the product made
Children learn to improve their ideas through questioning and constructive evaluation. The products made cover a range of materials and themes such as;
• mechanisms (cam, Pneumatics)
• textiles
• cooking
• working with wood
• structures
• working with card
• working with mouldable materials such as clay
The materials given to the children create an enjoyable challenge and all children are taught to use the equipment effectively and safely.
